Changes in How We Process Your ATM & EZPay Debit Card Transactions

Recent changes in government regulations have impacted how banks pay their customer’s overdrafts. You may be wondering what that means for you.

Without receiving prior customer consent, banks may no longer be able to authorize payment for customers’ ATM withdrawals and EZPay debit card transactions if the payment of those items will result in an overdraft to the customer’s account.

At Tri City National Bank, we realize that mistakes can happen. Sometimes our customers will use their EZPay debit cards to make purchases or withdraw money at an ATM when sufficient funds are not available. If you are running short of cash or make a mistake in your checking account, your authorization gives us permission to cover that transaction. There is no charge to your account for this service unless you use it.

Effective August 15, 2010, we will need to have your authorization on file to keep your account the same. To give your consent, please sign in to Online Banking or click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen if I do not give my consent to this service by August 15th?
If you do not authorize this service on or before August 15th, you will automatically be “Opted Out”. This means that your ATM or EZPay debit card transaction will be declined if you do not have sufficient available funds.

Why would I want to authorize this service?
To avoid the embarrassment of having your transaction declined when making essential purchases.

Will this effect how my other transactions, like checks and automatic withdrawals, are paid if my account becomes overdrawn?
No. Decisions on whether to pay or return other transactions like checks or automatic withdrawals that have overdrawn your account will continue to be made based on our standard overdraft practices.

What is the fee for this service?
There is no charge to your account if you don’t use the service. If you should overdraw at the ATM or with your EZPay debit card, it’s the same fee as if the account were overdrawn by check – $30 per item.

If I deposit into my account, will I still be charged a fee?
You will have until the end of that business day to make a deposit or transfer funds to cover your approved EZPay debit card purchases and avoid overdraft fees for those purchases.

Can I change my mind?
Yes, you may update your consent options at any time.
